Enchanting English Cottage

Revealing the home's stick-style architecture, also known as English Cottage (typical between 1840 and 1910), was the aim of this home renovation. Best known for high ceilings, beautiful woodwork, detailed finishes and lovely stained glass, this is a design which entails features any homeowner would want to accent. The work included the replacement of the two-storey front porch and bay windows, eaves and the dormer's façade. New windows and French doors throughout recall the original style of the home. The exterior was painted. Interior custom millwork remains true to the original and new hardwood on the ground floor has rejuvenated the living space. The kitchen has a large work area with Quartz counter-tops and natural marmoleum flooring. A new side-entry with powder room and relocated basement stairs allowed for the addition of a kitchen bay window seat in the eating area with a rear door overlooking the new deck and backyard. This renovation/restoration to an Annex Duplex is a nominee for Best Renovation of the year in the $300,000 or more category.
